![]() The Chinese Pico 4 at ~$450 has a slightly better resolution, a better form factor, and hardware-wise is a better headset, but its software is nowhere near as refined as Quests. If you don't have a powerful computer the ~$350 Quest 2 is a good option, as it has plenty of great software and looks pretty good. You do need a powerful computer to run it though, but if you have a powerful computer you will see a beautiful picture! It currently has the 2nd highest image quality, behind the $1995 Varjo Aero. If you have a good computer with a good Video card and live in the US, the current budget option is the Hp Reverb G2 on a Black Friday sale of $300. Or drop down to the Hp Reverb G2, which again provides a better picture, though it has a much smaller FOV. At this amount IMO, it's worth it to just spend the extra money for the Varjo Aero which is superior to it. It's also expensive at ~$1200, plust ~$600 for Base Stations\Controllers. It also has a large FOV and you can buy better speakers than the Vive Pro 2. The Pimax 8kx visual quality is almost as good as the Vive Pro 2, which is almost as good as the G2. This is difficult to recommend because the HP Reverb G2 is so much cheaper, you're paying a lot for the ability to use SteamVr controllers. Unfortunately it's expensive ($800), requires Base Station and controllers (an additional $600) and despite its high cost, has a bad microphone and it's speakers are only ok. And it's a native SteamVR headset, so your index Controllers and Base Stations give it the best tracking. The Vive Pro 2's Image quality is ALMOST as good as the Hp Reverb G2. This is my current recommendation, cheap and pretty! The included controllers tracking experience isn't as good as external Base Station\Index tracking, though it's probably good enough. The Hp Reverb G2 probably has the 2nd best Image Quality, and at a $600 price (with sales as low as $400) it's a solid choice for a good headset. If you have the money then this is what you get! It's absolutely freaking gorgeous, though. The Varjo Aero at $1995 is probably the best CONSUMER VR headset, but again you'll need to buy Base Stations and Index controllers for an additional ~$600. Don't forget Base Stations and the Index controllers, for ~$600 more. If money really isn't an issue, the Xtal 3 Mixed VR at $11,500 is the best bet. Schedule an AMA!
